Ellen Wood Stewart, 77, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Ellen graduated from Arkansas State University and worked for the Social Security office 39 years. She was a lifelong member of Lake City United Methodist Church. Ellen loved teaching water aerobics, serving as church treasurer and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, James Stewart; one daughter, Jami Bridger (Kent) of Jonesboro; one sister, Virginia Yeargain of Paragould; one brother, W.C. "Dub" Wood (Mary) of Lake City; 2 grandchildren: Stewart and Jamison Bridger, and several nieces and nephews.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents: W.C. "Clifton" and Mildred Wood; one brother, Donald Wood and one brother-in-law, Joe Yeargain.

Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11 at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00 with Brother Jerry Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Lake City Cemetery.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that donations be made to the Lake City United Methodist Church, 600 Buffalo St., Lake City, AR 72437.
