Mr. Watts was born March 8, 1937 in Burke County to the late Sebastian Watts and Maybell Smith Abee. He was a member of Amherst Baptist Church and worked as a heavy machine operator.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his half brother, Carl Abee; and half sister, Agnes Carswell.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hartley Watts of the home; son, Curtis Watts and wife Nanette of Connelly Springs; grandchildren, Joshua Watts and Wendy Watts Hicks; great grandchildren, Trinity Watts, Alanah Hicks, and Waylon Hicks; and half brothers, Glenn Smith and Ben Abee.
A funeral service will be held 4:00PM Thursday August 11, 2016 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with the Rev. Josh Watts and the Rev. Harold Joplin officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
