Jerry Lavern Hines, 85, of Rochester, passed away at the Elms Nursing Home on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Born in Wellington on January 24, 1931, Jerry lived his whole live in Wellington and Rochester and graduated from Wellington High School.

Jerry worked for Sterling Foundry and also for Ford Motor Company, from which he retired. He was a member of the Masons and the Eagles and enjoyed attending mens breakfasts in Brighton and Rochester. Jerry loved fishing and was a huge sports fan.

Jerry is survived by his siblings, Jean Leiter of Wooster, Lois Riley of Wellington, Larry (Cheryl) Hines of Brighton, Ronnie Thompson of Florida, Claude (June) Thompson of Westlake and Dan Thompson of Arizona. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ruth (nee Nell) Hines; his father, Russell Hines and his mother, Pauline (nee Simonson) Hines McKisson; his brother, Norman and brothers-in-law, Earl Riley and Lewis Leiter.

Friends and family will be received for a visitation on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Ellis and Rev. John Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Senior Bus of Wellington, 115 Willard Memorial Square, Wellington, Ohio 44090 or to Sprenger Hospice, 3905 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44053.
