Maxine was born April 22, 1934 in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late Orvil and Cecilia (Shanahan) Mundy. She married Darcy Norman Hensel on May 17, 1952 and this past May they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. She loved her husband deeply. Maxine worked at the Kraphol Senior Center in Mt. Morris for 14 years. She loved her job and the people there and talked about all of them frequently. Maxine was always a devoted wife and mother. She stayed home raising her children and cared for her husband 365 days a year for over 40 years. Maxine was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church for over 41 years. Her devotion to her faith was her greatest quality and she passed that quality down to each of her five children. Maxine always believed that God comes first in your life and then family and she lived her life by that example. She will be deeply missed. Maxine was the youngest of four children.
She is survived by her husband, Darcy; five children, Dennis Hensel, Susan Monahan, Mark Hensel, Darcea Cook and Matthew Hensel; daughters-in-law, Erma Hensel and Kirsten Hensel; sons-in-law, Patrick Monahan and Charles Cook; 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way; sister, Marjorie Marquardt; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Maxine was also preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice Pope; brother Orvil Mundy and two unborn children. Her brother-in-law, Ernest Marquardt recently passed away this past summer.
