Deacon Tommy Wright,Sr., of 424 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, NC. died Monday at his home.
Deacon Wright,Sr., born in Sanford FL; was the son of the late David Wright, Sr. and Pearl Bernice Wright. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Wright, Jr.; siblings, David Wright, Jr., Julie Wright and Rachel Wright.
He was raised in Sanford, FL; where he graduated from Crooms High School in 1958. He then went to serve in the United States Army from July 1958 thru July 1960 as a Signal Support Systems Specialist, he received his first duty assignment abroad in Germany and when that mission was completed he was honorably discharged. He returned to the U.S. and migrated to New York where he met his devoted wife Dorothy Jean "Dot" Cox, they married Sept. 22, 1962. From that union they were blessed with five children
He is survived his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Jean "Dot" Cox Wright of the home; four children, Natasha Wright Edwards, Nicole Wright Fields (Lee), Brandon Wright (Angela) and Tavarres Wright; seven grandchildren, siblins, Lena Wright Peterson (Clarke), James Wright (Geraldine), Edna Wright, William Wright (Lorain), Bernice Wright and Rosala Cook; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
