There are 2 Rachels Family Cemeteries, #19 and #36. The Newmans are in #36. It is located near gate 5 in training area 31.

On some census records, her dob is also listed as 1882, but her obituary said she was 86 years old which is correct for the dates given.

Sarah was born to the Tucker family in Grovetown, GA. Her parents died before she was 18.
She married Marshall Columbus "Lumby" Newman in 1901 in Columbia Co. GA and had at least 10 children. Four died in tragic accidents. They later moved to Blythe, GA. and the area that is now Fort Gordon in Richmond Co. GA

As the cemetery is now on Fort Gordon property,anyone who would like to visit this cemetery needs to
contact the Public Affairs Office at (706) 791-1871; cultural resources manager (706) 791-6374 or the Environmental and Natural Resources Management Office at 706-791-2397 or 706-791-2327.
