June Taylor Burns grew up in the Antioch Community. She graduated Jacksonville High School and attended Lon Morris College, Sam Houston State Teachers College, Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College and the University of Texas, receiving a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees.
She was a high school English and Speech teacher for 50 years. She took pride in the profession of teaching and held great affinity for her students and fellow-teacher friends.
June was a member of the Jacksonville Garden Club and regularly played bridge at the Holt House in Tyler. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church and played the piano and sang with her father there during her youth years.
She lived and died with a great faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and a funeral and celebration of her life will be held at Antioch Church under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hoy L. Burns.
She is survived by her daughter, Roxane Stark; two granddaughters, Shelli Boone and Morgan Bibe and brother, Max Taylor of Richardson.
