Reverend Roy Freeman, 98, of Spencer, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at IU Health Hospital in Bloomington.
He was born May 1, 1918 in Owen County to Mort and Nancy (Stogsdill) Freeman. He worked in stone quarries and in 1961 became an ordained minister. He pastored several churches through the years. In 1968 he retired from the stone quarries and spent his retired years farming.
Roy is survived by his sons, Earl Freeman (Carolyn) of Bloomington, Fred Freeman (Karen) of Spencer, Virgil Freeman of Spencer, and Billy Freeman (Patricia) of Ellettsville; step-children, Harold Prince and Alberta Freeman; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sister; three sons, Richard, Charlie, and Jack Freeman; and his wives, Virginia (Edwards) Freeman and Marie (Southern) Freeman.
Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home.
