Arthur Harwood Walsh, aka A Tony Walsh, passed on July 29, 2016, just hours short of his 80th birthday. He spent his final days surrounded by family and dear friends.

Tony was born at Boston General on July 30, 1936. He grew up in Lynn, Mass., and graduated from Lynn Tech High School, where he competed on the varsity basketball team.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years as an airplane mechanic. He was stationed at Chanute AFB, Goose Bay Labrador, Dover AFB, Hamilton AFB and Travis AFB and spent time in Hawaii. He also serviced a tour in Korea for 12 months. He was with the 1607th Flightline Maintenance Squad (MATS) & 78th Field Maintenance Squad. He did not miss a day of service during his enlistments.

After leaving the Air Force, he decided to stay in Marin County. He worked as both a machinist and a mechanic, a rare combination. Although he went home to visit, California became his home.

He met Janet ballroom dancing in San Francisco at the Carousel Ballroom and within six months, he had moved to South San Francisco and married her. They moved to San Bruno in 1966, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

His hobbies included working on cars, going to airplane museums, car races, watching sports and spending time with all his girls. He loved building things out of wood, especially for his grandkids. Later in life he learned to sew and made denim bags for the homeless in San Francisco.

After church on Sunday, you could always find him watching 49ers games. He was also a big fan of basketball, a love from his days of playing, and also watched the Warriors games. He loved to travel and visited many countries during his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Walsh (Belcher); his daughters, Veronica Walsh-Urbina (Omar Urbina), Vicky Walsh, Valery Walsh, Vonda Walsh; 8 grandchildren, Kasondra, Jacquelyn, Koreena, Krista, Josh, Jake (also godson), Mikaelyn and Amaleigh; siblings, Lloyd Walsh, Margaret Lang and Beatrice Dolan; goddaughter, Crystal Villafane and her sisters, Denise (Villafane) Jolly, and Tiffany Villafane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Walter A. Walsh, Find A Grave Memorial# 84455358
