Evangeline "Vangie" A. Karls, age 94, of Fond du Lac, formerly of the Marytown & Johnsburg area, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
The former Vangie Sippel was born May 9, 1922, in St. Cloud to Edwin & Rose (Will) Sippel. She attended St. Cloud Catholic Grade School.
On May 27, 1944, she married Clemens Karls at St. Cloud Catholic Church. She worked at Rueping Leather in Fond du Lac before her marriage. After getting married, the couple farmed in the Town of Calumet between Marytown and Johnsburg until they retired and moved to St. Peter. Clem preceded her in death on February 5, 1997.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Vangie also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and cooking and baking for her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty (Donald) Haensgen of Johnsburg; 6 grandchildren, Ken (Vicki) Haensgen of Johnsburg, Sandy (Joe) Greuel of Fond du Lac, Barb (Dan) Rose of St. Cloud, Steve (Val) Haensgen of Mukwonago, Krissy (Eric) Evjen of Waterford, Mike (Alissa) Haensgen of Wauwatosa; 17 great-grandchildren, Megan Kramer (fiancé, Jim Punzenberger), Beth & Jessi Haensgen, Samantha, Kaylie & Dylan Greuel, Danielle (Andy) Rodriguez, Nick Rose (fiancé, Christine Becker), Amanda Rose, Tyler, Zach, Jacob & Mackenzie Haensgen, Saydie, Kendall & Brycen Evjen, and Colin Haensgen; 5 great-great grandchildren, Allie & Cora Kramer, and Ella, Alayna & Owen Rodriguez; two sisters-in-law, Donna Entringer of St. Cloud and Peggy Sippel Of Voorhesville, NY; two brothers-in-law, Roger Karls of Mt. Calvary and Tony Schmitz of North Fond du Lac. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Edwin & Rose Sippel; her husband, Clem; great-great grandchild Dominic Kramer, brothers & sisters, Hubert (Eleanor) Sippel, Eugene Sippel, Vernetta (Ray) Stephany, Vernon "Bud" (Elsie) Sippel, Howard (Marlene) Sippel, Harold Sippel, and infant Laura Mae Sippel; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Viola (Alois) Forstner, Lou (Wally) Mueller, Clara (Francis) Dreifuerst, Florence (Albert) Mand, Ben (Delores) Karls, Leona (Eddie) Schneider, Francine Stephany-Schmitz (Clarence Stephany), Lyla Karls, Zeno Entringer, and infant twin Karls girls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, August 12, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholich Church in Johnsburg (N9288 County Road W Malone, WI 53049). Rev. Gary Wegner O.F.M. Cap. will officiate. Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
