Elaine Hoffman, 73, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016. A prayer service will be held Monday, August 15th at 5 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Holy Angels Chapel, 15440 Leavenworth Rd., Basehor, KS 66007. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 16th at Holy Angels Catholic Church at 10 a.m. and interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Elaine was born April 17, 1943 in Spalding, NE to Francis Cain, Sr. and Mary (Willy) Cain. She lived in Nebraska and Minnesota before moving to California where she met James Hoffman. On February 4, 1961, Elaine and Jim were married in Torrance, CA and then moved to Kansas City, KS. Elaine worked at Holy Angels Catholic Church for 20 years as a secretary. She was active in the CWO through her church. When her children were younger she served as the President of the PTA and other various organizations. Elaine enjoyed watching the Royals and Chiefs as well as crafting, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; siblings, Leo, Dan, Margaret, Eleanor, Fran, Joe, Lorayne, Bill, Bob, Ron, and Cathy. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Sherry Fisher, Kim (Steve) Wilson, Brad Hoffman, and Lonni (Tim) Carter; siblings, Gerald Cain, J.D. Cain, Claire Cullen, and Connie Torstvet; grandchildren, Colby (Melissa) and Austin (Susan) Fisher, Chelsie and Colton Carter, Ashley and Britney Hoffman, Tyler, Casey and Michelle Wilson; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Fisher, Jeremiah Swofford, Cheristi Edland, Madison, Taylor, Dakota and Austin Wilson, and a great-granddaughter on the way; and a great-great grandson, Ashtyn Wilson.
