Michael Lee Orange was born on July 24, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas and immediately adopted by Edward A. and Ruth M. (Willson) Orange. He passed away on August 8, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 57 years and 15 days.

Mike grew up and attended school in Wagoner. Mike worked in various jobs over the years, including Water Plant Operator for Lake Crest Water District in Wagoner, a Commercial Diver repairing and rigging deep sea oil rigs, a Licensed Paramedic who worked in Tulsa and also Pryor for 21 years. Mike was also a very active community volunteer throughout his life, he was active in Wagoner County Civil Defense, the Lake Crest Volunteer Fire Department where he was the youngest certified firefighter in the state and as a teen, bought his own ambulance to serve the community of Lake Crest, Green Country REACT, Pryor Mayes County Civil Defense, Mayes County Emergency Management where he served as assistant director for two years, City of Pryor Emergency Management, Mayes County Sheriff’s Department and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a paramedic instructor for the National Guard Academy in Pryor, served with Task Force Katrina at Camp Gruber as an operations section chief and for the past 16 years has been a Storm chaser with KTUL News Channel 8 Storm Team in Tulsa. In addition to all of his work experiences, he was also personally involved with other community events and groups in Mayes County such as the Pryor High School Band where he volunteered for the past 20 years and also at Rocklahoma. To say Mike devoted his life to service for others would be a gross understatement.

In Mike’s family life, he was an amazing husband, best friend and confidant to his wife, Becky. The two were married in 2008 and made their home here in Pryor. He was a loving father to his children and stepchildren and a doting and fun grandpa to his grandkids. Mike was loved by many because of his wonderful sense of humor, his laid-back and easygoing personality and his ability to make you feel welcome whenever you were around him. He was a very active member of Your Place Church in Pryor where he volunteered his time and talents to many different areas in the church. He has served as production manager, in information technologies and as an assistant to Pastor Darian Rains. His love for God was evident in everything he did at the church. He and Becky spent countless hours making sure that details were always seen to and the church experience would be perfect for members and first time guests alike. He loved music and playing the bass with the worship team was dear to him and also loved volunteering with the youth. He was often the strong, silent type but mostly, he was the first one to greet you with a smile and hug at church. He was a bonus dad and grandpa to the people who needed one and was always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty with his time and affection.

The thing he would want you to know most, however, is how much he loved and adored his savior, Jesus Christ. He was an unashamed believer and follower and he knew it was God that gave him the talents and purpose in life to make a huge difference in the lives of many. He would want you to remember to not take life so seriously all the time, to enjoy your family and friends, but above all, have your life right with the Lord. It is because of this truth, that we all can rest assured in the comfort of knowing where he is today, worshipping at the feet of Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, Becky of the home; two sons, Andrew Orange and Zachary Orange and wife April; one daughter, Kaylin Orange and husband Neil; one stepson, James Willyard and Sarah; 17 grandchildren; three brothers, Kevin Orange and wife Dana, Terry Lindsey and Johnny Laizure; stepmother, Maxine Orange and two step brothers, Ronnie Haddick and Rocky Haddick and wife Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Jesika Willyard.
