Dr. Carolyn Tyree, 65, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Germantown Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tenn.

She was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of George B. and Alta Crites Lucy.

Tyree grew up in Parma, Mo. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Washington University, a master's degree in educational administration and counseling from Southeast Missouri State University, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Southern Illinois University.

She taught in St. Louis, at Oklahoma Baptist University, and the past 12 years was a professor of education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She was a counselor for Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, director of the Northeast Arkansas Red Cross, and was active in other organizations.

Tyree attended Centenary United Methodist Church while living in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Thomas Tyree of St. Charles, Mo., Wesley Tyree of Wildwood, Mo.; a sister, Patricia Youngdahl of Little Rock, Ark.; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Brent Mustoe officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
