Rhea L. Pearson, 85, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at VIP Manor in Wood River.
She was born on September 15, 1930 in Hartford, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Shaw) Thompson.
She married Delmont Pearson on December 31, 1964, in Meadowbrook, Illinois, and he preceded her in death in November, 2006.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Jim Koen of Hartford, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce Shaw of Hartford, Brian and Marion Shaw of Brighton, five grandchildren: Tony Bradley of Woodburn, Christina Bradley of East Alton, Adam Shaw of St. Louis, Missouri, Jacob Shaw of Hartford, And Aaron Shaw of Bethalto; six great-grandchildren: Anthony, Ryne, Bradley, Carson, Kyle, and Alec; two great-great-grandchildren: Jazmin, Anthony III, and an expected great-great-grandson, and a special friend and caretaker, Rose Jackson.
She was formerly employed at Hair Performers at Alton Square Mall as a receptionist. She loved shopping and looking for arrowheads. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Norman.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the funeral home. Pastor Randy Fischer will officiate. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded. Private inurnment will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton and will be accepted at the funeral home.
