He was married about 1886 to Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Pate, (1869-1944), the daughter of James Pate and Betty (Thacker) Pate.
A house carpenter in the 1920 census, three years later he was a watchman and 66 years old when his "limbs" were somehow caught between an elevator and the floor at 1022 Sharpe Street [at a business?] on June 2, 1923, causing his death. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery.
