Actress, Publisher. Born Helen Nichols. After appearing in such films as "Winds of the Wasteland" (1936) with John Wayne, "Tough to Handle" (1937), and "For Beauty's Sake" (1941), she retired from acting during the early 1940s. In 1940 she married Bennett Cerf, publisher and co-founder of Random House and future panelist on the television show "What's My Line?". Fraser helped create "Beginner Books", a branch at Random House which launched the career of author Dr. Seuss. After Cerf's death in 1971, Fraser married former New York City Mayor Robert F. Wagner. She was the cousin of actress Ginger Rogers. She died of complications from a fall at her home.
