James Owens, 91, of Paxton died at 6:38 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 7, 2016) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Jim was born November 20, 1924 in Hoopeston, the son of James and Margaret L. Osman Owens. He married Esther M. Snively May 4, 1952 in Hoopeston. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2006.

He is survived by one son, Roger (Julie) Owens; two daughters, Pat (Brad Dickson) Owens and Angela (Gary) Horvath; two grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Swick and one brother Danny (Susie) Owens.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and one brother, Robert Owens.

Jim graduated from Armstrong High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan 1949-50 and stationed in Korea 1950-51. He retired in 1986 after 35 years with the Ludlow Co-op Elevator Company.

He was a member of the Paxton Church of Christ. Jim enjoyed gardening, or as he called it “farming”, taking care of his yard and watching baseball.
