Eric was a 1978 graduate of Fairhope High School, then moved to Atlanta, GA; where he attended DeVry University earning a degree in Electronics and Technical Business Management.
Eric was employed with Scientific Atlanta for 20 years in various positions, before moving back to Daphne, AL; to be closer to his aging parents. He was employed at Media Com until his illness.
Eric was a gentle soul and loved his church and fellow man. He served in his church as a Greeter, Usher, Counter, member of the Parish Council, and also as Chairman of the Festival Committee. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Bishop Howze Council 170.
A devoted husband, father, son, and brother, he leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife and friend of thirty-two years, Mary Allen; one loving son, Eric K. Allen, II; his caring mother, Ann Allen of Daphne, AL; one brother, Leslie "Chuck" Allen, III, of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Tracey (Michael) Lockhart of Decatur, GA; one sister-in-law, Alice "Neecy" Torres of Alexandria, LA; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Fitzgerald, Glenn Fitzgerald and Brain Fitzgerald of St. Petersburg, FL; one nephew, Michael Lockhart; one niece, Tia Pearl Torres; two aunts, Mattie Mayberry of Chicago, IL; Jackie Knott of PA; one uncle, Elmar Clopton of Chicago, IL; a great friend and buddy Theodore "Boo" Matthews; a host of extended family, friends and caring church family.
Mr. Allen's remains will lie in state on Friday, January 22, 2016,
from 1:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at Small's Mortuary, Daphne, AL.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour at the Shrine of the Holy Cross, 612 Main Street, Daphne, AL.
Interment in the Belforest Catholic Cemetery, Daphne, AL.
