Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale Macone and his wife. Mrs. Harris spent her adult years in Nahant and Swampscott. She was a 1968 graduate of Somerville High School and a graduate of Salem State College. Upon graduation from college, she became an elementary school teacher in Nahant where she taught for many years. She promoted educational opportunities for all. The mother of a marine, she championed veterans programs and helping those who serve.
Mrs. Harris had multiple sclerosis and supported the MS Society Organization. She was a member of St. Johns Church in Swampscott and enjoyed activities at the Swampscott Senior Center.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her brother and his wife of Nahant, her sister of Woodbridge, VA., her nephew and family of Hollywood, MD., her niece of Woodbridge, VA., her sister-in-law and brother-in-law of FL; her nephew and family of Saugus and her niece and family of Berwick, ME.
Her funeral will be held on Friday from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street, Rt 1A, Lynn, followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. Burial will be in Swampscott Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosalies memory to the Capt. Jennifer J. Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund, Eastern Bank, 405 Paradise Rd, Swampscott, MA 01907.
