Mrs Worcester was from early life remarkable for her self-denying devotion to her duties, among which those that related to herself, personally, occupied but a small place. Being one of the early receivers of the doctrines of the New Church, and her husband being settled over the Boston Society of the New Jerusalem, at its first small beginning, her life was much identified with its welfare and growth. It would, perhaps, be difficult to say whether her devotion to her family, or to the church was the more remarkable.

For several years before her death, although her strength was slowly but inevitably yielding to consumption, neither that, nor the remonstrances of friends, could overcome her spirit of usefulness. When her hands could no longer labor, she could still continue her spiritual work; and the practical instruction imparted to those about her, added to the force of her life's example, will long continue to have its influence for good.
