Funeral services will be Tuesday for Mary Jane McGettigan Bakaysa, formerly of Taylor, who died Wednesday afternoon in Abington Manor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, Scranton. Friends may call today, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church.

Mary Jane McGettigan Bakaysa, formerly of Taylor, died Wednesday afternoon in Abington Manor. She and her husband, John Bakaysa of Abington Manor, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in June.
She was born in Scranton, daughter of the late James Sr. and Kathleen Naughton McGettigan. She was educated in West Scranton and was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grade School and of St. Patrick's High School, class of 1945. Before retirement, she was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry. She was a member of ILGWU of America. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo at the Greenwood Hose Company and also making occasional trips to Atlantic City. She was a talented singer and was a member in various area choral groups. Her specialty was performing Irish ballads.
Mary Jane's family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff and management of the Abington Manor for the care and compassion given to their mom.
Also surviving are two sons, John W. "Jack" Bakaysa, Reading; and Patrick D. Bakaysa and wife, Kathy, Clarks Summit; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Mary Ann, Kathleen and Bridget; a brother, James McGettigan Jr.; and two sisters, Ann Giaramone and Catherine Skrutski.
