STEWART – William J., 65, Johnstown, passed away March 7, 2016. Son of the late Charles J. and Pauline (Bowman) Stewart. Preceded in death by son, Patrick "Stu" Stewart; and brother, Richard Stewart. Survived by wife, Kathryn "Kitty" (Greene) Stewart, Johnstown; son, Chris, married to Kim (Cunkelman), and their children, Christian, Rylie and Addison, all of Canonsburg, Pa.; brother, Frank Stewart, married to Debbie (Formento), Damascus, Md.; sisters-in-law, Nancy Stewart, Michigan City, Ind.; LuAnn Hamen, married to Ronald, Camp Hill, Pa.; Michele Brown, married to the Rev. Michael, Monmouth Junction, N.J.; brother-in-law, Michael Greene, Harrisburg; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Stewart, Shanksville; Gabby, the cat; and many nieces and nephews. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. Retired state senator and consultant for WJS Alpine Consulting. He was a Pennsylvania state representative from 1977 to 1987 for the 72nd District and Pennsylvania senator from 1987 to 1996 for the 35th District. Former owner of Hesselbein's and an electrician for Bethlehem Steel Corp. He enjoyed watching old movies, loved music and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was a loyal Pittsburgh Penguins fan and was known to fix anything. Friends received from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, where funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, Father Chuck Bridges, officiating.
