John was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Reno and Apac and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers #101.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Navy.
John was preceded in death also by a son, Johnnie Darrell Ramsey who died April 14, 1994 and two infant sons, Gary Lee and Ricky Lynn and a brother, Howard Ramsey.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeanette L. Ramsey Marrs of Fort Scott, Kansas; two sisters, Rosalea Donaldson and Anita Kay McSwain; four grandchildren, Reality, Melissa, Sunshine and Jonathan and several great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Uniontown Cemetery, Uniontown, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Monday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
