AP (as she was affectionately known to all) was preceded in death by her parents H. W. (Hub) Finley and Annie Belle
Weatherly Finley; her 6 brothers and 2 sisters, Leonard Bertram, Herbert Tipton (Dogie), Lutie Fay, Eddy Mae, Joe Bailey, James Hogg (Jim), William Haskell (Pete), and Edmond Lee (Pat); and niece Ebba Ann Barber.
She is survived by her adopted daughters/ nieces, Jill Finley Henderson of Abilene and Jean Finley Raygor of Houston;
nephew, George Finley and wife Peggy of San Angelo; nephew, James "Tip" Finley of Eldorado; and niece Toya Jo Bartlet and husband Doug of Lubbock. She is survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, and by her good friend Hazel Ruth
Pickering.
One of her fondest memories was riding a mule to school. She was the youngest of 9 children and said, "that darn mule was all that was left when it came to passing out the horses." She grew up in the old Bailey Ranch Community outside of
Eldorado and had to ride that mule to the Bailey Ranch School everyday. AP had many hilarious stories about growing up in West Texas. She loved to share them while sitting at her
kitchen table drinking a cup of coffee.
She moved to San Angelo from Eldorado in 1937 taking a job at the Tom Green Courthouse. She then took a position at
Wallace Studio/ Laboratories where she made a lifelong
career for herself. She rose to a position on the Board of
Directors at Wallace, and retired after 36 years with the
company. She was truly a pioneer for women in business in San Angelo.
AP was our family historian, and link to our heritage. Her wit and knowledge will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be held at the Eldorado Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 26, 2006.
Services will be conducted by the Kerbow Funeral Home of Eldorado, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendricks
Hospice Care of Abilene, Texas.
