and Elizabeth Connell, 1782,GA - 1857, Hancock County, Georgia.

Mrs. M. E. Dickenson, an old and highly respected lady of this city, died at the residence of her son-in-law, Hon. J. D. Stewart, at half past eleven o'clock on Tuesday night after four years of suffering, being confined to her bed for the greater part of the time...the body was carried to the family burial ground, at her old home about eight miles from here on the Zebulon and Fayetteville road... Mrs. Dickenson was born in Hancock County, February 26th, 1802, and therefore in her 89th year. She, together with her husband and two children, moved to this section somewhere around 1830 and settled on what was known at that time as the 'new purchase,' a tract of land which was sold by the indians...Her husband died a number of years ago...She leaves a large number of children, grand children, and several great grandchildren. Among the former are Mrs. J. D. Stewart, Mrs. W. H. Dickenson, Mrs. R. A. Hardee and J. F. Dickenson, of this city, C. A. Dickenson, who lives near Mt. Zion, and Mrs. McDowell, of Molena.
