Dorothy Breland McKinnon Ray, age 85, of Benton, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2016. She was born October 27, 1930 to Willie and Mittie Nash Breland in Union County, Arkansas. Dorothy received a degree with honors in Elementary Education from Southern State College and a Master’s degree with honors from East Texas State University. She loved children, serving as a teacher in the Willisville and Magnolia school districts and later as principal of Lake Hamilton Elementary, Rockefeller Elementary and Mabelvale Elementary. The jobs she cherished most were mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mittie Breland; brothers, Wilbur and Jerry Breland; husbands Charles Maurice McKinnon and Richard Jerry Faulkner; a beloved grandchild and her best friends, Irma Leever and Lorene Gunnels.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol McKinnon Hudgens (Isaac David) of East End; grandchildren, Isaac Zachary Hudgens (Heather) of Maumelle and Ashley McKinnon Hudgens Wise (Michael) of East End; great grandchildren, Isaac Aidan and Caitlin Paige Hudgens and Koen James Wise; brother, Bill Breland (Louise); nephew Jeremy Breland; the McKinnon sisters-in-law, their husbands, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; her loving friend, Austin Ray and her sweet Calvary Baptist Church family. She also served as second grandmother to the twin grandchildren of her best friend Lorene Gunnels, Maggie and Gwen Gunnels, Magnolia, AR.

Pallbearers will be the Deacons at Calvary Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearer will be Ben Nicholas.

Visitation will be Monday, August 8 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Benton and will be followed by the funeral service in the same location at 11:00 under the direction of Ashby Funeral Home. Interment will be at Pine Crest Memorial Park in the Garden Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation, 1 Children’s Way Slot 661, Little Rock, AR 72202 or C John, P.O. Box 1146, Benton, AR, 72018.
