OLEAN - Walter E. Vaughn, formerly of Martha Avenue, passed away Monday (Aug. 1. 2016) at Absolut Care of Allegany after a lengthy illness.
Born on Jan. 28, 1944, in Jamestown, he was a son of Philip and Jenny Tompkins Vaughn. On Nov. 23, 1963, he married Carol Lovell, who predeceased him Oct. 23, 2002.
Mr. Vaughn taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Olean for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are four children, Lucinda (Dale) Connelly of Olean, Wally (Shelly) Vaughn of Kill Buck, Philip (Terry Bertron) Vaughn of Bradford, Pa., and Brad (Donna Reed) Vaughn of Olean; two sisters, Rose Vaughn of North Carolina and Bonnie Benner of Jamestown; two brothers, Harold "Pete" (Ruth) Vaughn of Olean and Wayne (Robin) Vaughn of Olean; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, Wayne Vaughn and Thomas Vaughn; and four siblings, Eleanor Green, Shirley Hicks, Edward Vaughn and Nina Brothers.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
