Daniel was born to Arab & Sylvannia (Beckwith)Ball.
He married Isabella Davis Keene on Sept. 7, 1864 at Boston, Mass. The couple had 7 children, 3 died at birth, other children were Cora Bell, Robert Keene, Ora Daniel, Albirdie Sylvannia. He came to Nebr. in 1867 as one of 4 men assigned for duty in the mail service on the Union Pacific railroad, he was later appointed chief head clerk over the whole line from Omaha to San Francisco until 1869. He was appointed Deputy U.S.Marshal in 1871 & served for 10 years. He bought & homesteaded in 1873 what is now known as the Famous Walker Ranch
