She committed her life to Christ at a young age and united with the St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend T.J. Davis. Sister was a faithful and dedicated servant. Her legacy of service includes the Senior Life Ministry, Senior Choir (President), Mission Ministry, Pastor’s Aid Ministry, and Culinary activities. She was also active in her community by serving with the Inner City Mission located in District Three, City of Mobile.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Harry Coleman, Sr. Her pleasure of unconditional motherly love began with the birth of Andrew Coleman, Jr. and extended to her last great-grandchild.
Mrs. Coleman retired from the National Linen Service after 35 years of distinguished service.
Julia Coleman was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Coleman, Sr.; sons, Andrew Coleman and Harry Coleman, Jr.; mother, Sallie James Sanders; three brothers, Willie Jackson, George (Ann) Voltz and Jonnie (Juanita) Sanders.
She leaves to cherish her kind and loving memories one devoted daughter, Grace Michelle (Frederick) Rumph; devoted sons, Herbert (Alfreda) Coleman, Gary Coleman, Charles Coleman, Carl Coleman, all of Mobile, AL, and Glenn Coleman of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Grace Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her remains will lie in state on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 1-8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at St. Peter MB Church, 650 S. Bayou Street, Mobile AL, 36603.
Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Cemetery, Theodore, AL.
