Ella M. Meyer, age 95, formerly of Cleveland died Friday morning, August 5, 2016 at Manitowoc Health Care and Rehab Center where she was a resident the past year.

She was the former Ella Hickman, born May 24, 1921 in the Town of Meeme, daughter of the late George & Clara (Koeser) Hickman. She attended schools in the Town of Meeme. On January 11, 1939 she married Milton Meyer in Iowa. Milton preceded her in death on August 22, 1991. Ella cleaned homes for various people throughout the years.

She took great pride in being a homemaker and raising her family. She and Milton also farmed in the Town of Meeme until 1970 when they moved to Cleveland. She was a member of St. James UCC, Spring Valley and the Womens Guild. Ella enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, doing crafts and crocheting. She donated many of her creations to local groups.

Survivors include two daughters: Janice Wehausen and Yvonne (Jim) Hochkammer, both of Manitowoc, daughter-in-law, Marion Meyer, Cleveland, 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother, Leander Hickman, Kiel, two sisters-in-law, Julie Ann Hickman and Rose Mary Hickman, two brothers-in-law, Willard Meyer and Hamilton Strowig, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sons; Curtis Meyer, Wallace (Beatrice) Meyer, Larry and Dennis Meyer, son-in-law, Frederick Wehausen, one grandson, Terry Hochkammer, two great grandchildren, Amanda Meyer and Zachery Hochkammer, five brothers; Norman, Alfred, Ralph, Raymond and Elmer and sisters-in-law, Helen Marie Meyer and Ruth Strowig.

Funeral services for Ella will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. James UCC, 13312 Pioneer Road, Newton (Spring Valley) with Rev. William Kesting officiating. Burial will take place in Schleswig Cemetery, Town of Schleswig, (Rockville). Family and friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm and at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service. A memorial has been established for St. James UCC, Spring Valley. Ella's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Manitowoc Health Care for all the care and compassion shown to Ella.
