He was born March 27, 1924 and died Wednesday morning in Homer Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries sustained from a recent fall. Lt. Col. Eaton, a member of the "Greatest Generation", survived 73 combat missions in the Martin B-26 Marauder over France and Germany during World War II, three of which were flown on "D-Day".
He was an active member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Lions International where he served in many capacities, three years as Deputy District Governor and Life Member of the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation. He served 27 years as Town Alderman and Town Clerk of Mt. Lebanon, Supervisor of Mt. Lebanon Cemetery and Financial Chairman on the Bienville Hospital Board. Before coming to Mt. Lebanon, he lived in Keatchie, LA., where he was also an Alderman and served as Secretary-Treasurer of Keatchie Methodist Church.
He served with his wife P.F. as Corresponding Secretary and Chairman of Building and Grounds of the Mt. Lebanon Historical Society. The Eatons purchased and restored the "Dogtrot", a home on the National Register of Historic Places and conducted tours of the home annually.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years Pearl Faye (P.F.), three children, Charles (Fred), Chris and Cheri Lee, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
