84, a resident of 209 Green Forest Dr., died Sunday, January 24 at the home of her daughter in Raleigh. She was the daughter of the late Eugene Latta, Sr. and Rose Emma Thorpe Latta.

She was a celebrated Church pianist, choir leader and vocal soloist. For many years she hosted a singing anniversary program and brought together a host of soloist, choirs, quartets and gospel music enthusiast from all over the state. Churches and auditoriums were packed with people bringing with them a spirit of praise and celebration.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn E. Garrison (Glenn) of Raleigh; two sons, Henderson Brooks, Jr. (Anna) of Butner and Kent R. Brooks of Springfield, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 28 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Granville Baptist Church by Rev. James Isaac III. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.
