Henry Cline Wood, Jr, 90, of Roanoke County, died Thursday afternoon, August 4, 2016. Cline served in the United States Navy during World War II, owner and operated Wood's Garage in the Mt. Pleasant community for over 68 years, alongside his son, Ronnie. He was a longtime member of the Mt. Pleasant Fire Dept.
Cline was born in the Mt. Pleasant community, a son of the late Henry C. Wood Sr. and Elinor Witt Wood and was preceded in death by his first and second wife, Isabel Guilliams Wood, and Dolly Duke Brown Wood, and his sister, Audrey W. Patsel.
Surviving are his children, Ronnie Wood and wife, Jennie, Cheryl W. Martin and Kenny Wood and wife, Joan; his grandchildren, Jonathan Martin and wife, Heather, Jason Martin and wife, Amber, Brian Wood and wife, Caitlin, Laura Wood, Sarah Gregor and husband, Brock, Matt Wood; his sister, Shirley Ranson; a nephew, Ryan Ranson and wife, Michaelina; a niece, Sonya Echols and husband, Jim; and a special friend, Leona Morris.
A service honoring Cline's life will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, Monday, August 8, 2016, 2:00 pm with the Rev. Mark Washington officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Mt. Pleasant Fire Dept. in Cline's memory. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
