Graveside services for Carol Eugene “Red” Fuller, 87, of Claremore, Oklahoma are 10:00 am, Monday August 8, 2016, at the Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday August 7, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Green Country Funeral Home with family receiving friends. Officiating will be Rob Pierce. Pallbearers are Brian Hix, Dale Glory, Rodney Young, Brad Mohon and Cody Caughman. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Dell Barnes, Jerry Fuller and Henry Walker. Carol Eugene Fuller was born on September 11, 1928, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Jerry “Ted” and Verda (Lindsay) Fuller. He departed this life from Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 3, 2016.
Red was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County and was a graduate of Bagley High School. He would work short periods of time out of state. He had worked at Hollister Ranch in California and 1000 Acres Ranch in New York.
In 1958 Red purchased his home place at Gideon and lived there until 2015 when he began needing assistance in daily life. He was involved in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as a competitor and announcer. He was a member of the CTA ( Cowboys Turtle Association) which became the RCA (Rodeo Cowboys Association) which finally transformed into the PRCA which Red was a Gold Card member of.
He always attended the PRCA National Finals until his health would no longer allow him to make the trip.
He retired from the USDA, Animal Plant Health Inspection Service. He was involved in the Brucellosis Eradication Program.
For years Red was the announcer for the Green Country Junior Rodeo Association’s rodeos, and the PRCA, and was a lifelong cowboy. He enjoyed golfing and once had a hole in one.
Red was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Cole Fuller; sister, Katherine Gibson; and three infant brothers.
He is survived by his two children; a son, Dusty Fuller and wife Tecla of Fort. Myers, Florida and daughter, Debbie Caughman and husband Nathan of Wagoner, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Cody Caughman, Kylea Caughman and Jenna Hack; and great grandchild, Hollis Hack; as well as many extended family members, and friends.
Red will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
