OBITUARY
Beebe
Ella Jane Walker, daughter of William and Eliza Walker, was born in Indiana, Feb. 14, 1846, passed away at her home in Albia, August 1, 1927, aged eighty-one years, five months and seventeen days. She came with her parents to Iowa when but a child, settling in Monroe county, where she has made her home all the years as one of the pioneers living in Albia about 20 years. August 3, sixty-five years ago she was united in marriage to Jasper Beebe. To this union were born nine children, three of whom preceded her in death some years ago. Those surviving her and left to mourn their loss are Mrs. R. E. Armstrong, Mrs. Emma Johns, Mrs. John Benson all of Albia, Francis Beebe of Des Moines, Mrs. Earl Vanhom (Van Horn) of California and Charles Beebe of Albia. She also leaves one brother James Walker of Albia together with eleven grandchildren.

August 26, 1877 she with her husband was baptized, united with the Brethren church. To these baptismal vows she has been faithful throughout the years. During her recent illness reaching over a period of two months she received great comfort from the reading of the scriptures with which she was quite familiar. She expressed a desire to depart if it was the Lord's will and entered into details as to her funeral and burial. She will be greatly missed as a mother and grandmother as well as a neighbor and friend, of which she could number many.

The funeral services were conducted in the local United Brethren church, conducted by the pastor, Wm. F. Cronk.

Burial took place at Pleasant Corners cemetery near her old home.

We did not find a headstone for Ella, nor her husband, nor her children, nor her in-laws (Johnsons). The only headstone found was for her son-in-law, Earl Johnson. There is information (Iowa death certificate) that Ella Walker Beebe is buried here and Earl's mother, Gertrude Norwood Johnson (Iowa death certificate and obituary), is buried here. There is a large unmarked area next to Earl Johnson's headstone that I photographed. Perhaps Earl's parents, wife, and in-laws are buried next to him in this unmarked area.
