BESS RADER BAYER, 96, of Charleston, died Oct. 14, 2004, at Marmet Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
She graduated from Elkview High School, Morris Harvey College and received a Masters of Education Degree from West Virginia University.
Mrs. Bayer taught in the elementary schools of Kanawha County for 29 years. She was affiliated with Alpha Delta Kappa educational fraternity and the Tiskewha Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Mink Shoals.
Mrs. Bayer was married to the late John R. Rader for 38 years and made her home in Frame, W.Va. She later married Walter E. Bayer and they lived for 20 years in Land O'Lakes, Fla.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Jean Hyde of Pittsburgh, Pa.; grandchildren, Jeffery Hyde of Sarasota, Fla., Rebecca Hyde of Basking Ridge, N.J., Gretchen McDonald of Bear, Del., and Robb Hyde of Laurel, Md.; great-grandchildren, William McDonald of California, Melanie McDonald of New Jersey, Griffin, Elizabeth and Katherine Hyde of Maryland, Bennett and Cameron Radinovic of New Jersey; sisters, Erma G. Shafer and Pauline Williams, both of Charleston; nieces, Jacqueline Raiguel of Clendenin, Jessie Cooper, Mary Alice Melton and Linda Robra of Ashburn, Va., and Lora Snow of Gallipolis, Ohio.
The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. The visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin.
