ROGERSVILLE Emma Sue Salyers Parsons, 68, of Rogersville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (Jan. 30, 2010) at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.

She was born in Scott County, Va. (Hiltons) and lived most of her life in Kingsport. She was retired from B & W Dry Cleaners and attended Charity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Parsons was preceded in death by her son, James C. Parson, Jr.; her parents, Hendricks and Violete Kilgore Salyers; and several sisters and brothers.

Survivors include her husband of over 39 years, James C. Parsons Sr. of the home; four daughters, Rosa Starnes and husband, David of Weber City, Va., Tresa Jenkins and husband, Eddie of Gray, Valorie Fink and husband, Charlie of Kingsport, Tisha Carter and husband, Lawrence of Kingsport; three sons, James W. Parsons and wife, Dennise of Kingsport, Curtis Parsons and wife, Bobbie of Greeneville, Tenn., Charles Gillenwater, Jr. and wife, Martha of Roanoke, Va.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eva McNutt of Kingsport, Peggy Roberts of Kingsport, Betsy Sutton of Mount Carmel, Mary Ruth King of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Wayne Salyers and wife, Phyllis and Darrell Salyers, both of Kingsport; along with several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Chestnut Flats Cemetery, Lucy Road, Kingsport.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Parsons family.
