She was a graduate of Sterling High School, in Sheffield, Alabama.
Jeanette accepted Christ at an early age at First Missionary Baptist Church in Sheffield, Alabama. She later relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where she continued her worship at several churches throughout the city. Upon returning home to Alabama she united with Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church in Barton, Alabama where she served on the motherboard and was a faithful member until her health declined.
Jeanette worked in home health care. She loved fishing and spoiling her children and grandchildren. Because of the love she had for her husband she also agreed to coon hunting often. Jeanette often cooked and opened up her home to the community, extended family and friends.
Jeanette met and married the love of her life on January 10, 1961 to that union two loving children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories: The love of her life Ester Garfield Nelson of Sheffield, Alabama. One son Joseph Nelson of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, one daughter Renee (Mark) Brown of Fultondale, Alabama. Five grandchildren: Joseph “JB” Nelson, Jr., Jeanee Nelson, Joshua Guins, Rayan Brown II, and Reece Brown. Six great grandchildren: Jamarcus Nelson, Aliyvia Morissette, Makenzie Nelson, Jamal Noel, Brayden Nelson and Jasen Noel. Two sisters: Margarett Hooks and Karen Mastin. One brother John Milton Davis. Four sisters in law: Grace Donley, Gloria Sanders, Cherelene Johnson and Doris Nelson. One brother in law Victor Nelson. Lil Man- her four legged boy. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Special friends: Janice Houston, Jerrod Hall, Jory Thompson, Tashia Vinson, Sandra Rainey and Ann Thrasher.
SHEFFIELD — Jeanette Marie Nelson, 73, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016. Trinity Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The funeral will be noon Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church, Sheffield, with burial in Nazareth Cemetery, Barton.
