One of 30 soldiers of the King's Own Scottish Borderers killed by a German parachute mine that landed on their billet at Theydon Bois, and commemorated on a plaque in St Mary’s Church, Theydon Bois, Essex.

Private Allan Brown Dobson, another soldier killed by the same enemy action, is also buried in Jedburgh, at the Castlewood Road Cemetery.
