J. W. (Pop) Kirtland, 78, of Altoona, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at his residence.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., at Albertville Memorial Chapel. The Revs. Wayne Roden and Jerry Owens officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Altoona.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Woodall Kirtland; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Eric Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Bart and Dana Kirtland; four grandchildren; chosen daughters, Ann Ehl Alexander and Kay Ehl Jackson; sisters, Veola Kirkland, Maxine Cody, and Margaret Fox; brother, Sylvester Kirtland Jr.; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends.
Pallbearers were Jeff Scott, Edward Thrasher, Shane Alexander, Greer Davis, David Harp and Chuck Gamblin.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends and neighbors, Dr. K. J. Shah, Dr. Robert Conry, Marshall County Hospice, Dale Johnson and employees of Boaz Discount Drugs.
The family requests donations be made to the Marshall County Hospice.
