Greensboro - Elsie Smith Stone, 85, of Greensboro, passed away on July 26, 2016, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Rev. Johnny Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Family visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.

She was born in Ashe County to the late David and Mabel Severt Smith. She worked at Western Electric for more than twenty–seven years as an assembler. She was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church. Elsie loved her family, church, camping and gospel music.

She was a former member of the Good Sam Camping Club and contributed to many different mission funds. She was a very strong and independent woman, and had received a medal for living with diabetes and keeping it under control for more than fifty years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Stone; sisters, Pinkie Cochran and Bly Walton, and brother, Ray Smith. She is survived by her son Roland Stone and wife Marty of Kernersville; grandchildren, Kelly Farmer and husband Daniel, Dennis Stone and wife Megan and Curtis Stone; great grandchild, David Farmer; sisters, Sylvia Roark and Sadie Lyles; brothers, Rev. Ralph Smith and Rev. Roy Smith.
