Jack E. Wolf, 86 of Greenville, passed on to eternal life on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Jack was born in Walnut, IA on October 12, 1929, the son of Raymond and Bernice (McCloud) Wolf.

He received his elementary and high school education from schools in Walnut. After graduation, he furthered his education at Bradley University in Peoria, IL, where he received his poly-technical degree in watch, clock, and jewelry repair. Jack worked at several jewelry stores in Iowa before moving to Greenville with his new wife, Dorothy, in July of 1953 to work for his uncle, the late Roy Wolf. In January of 1959, Jack and Dorothy purchased Wolf's Jewelry from his uncle, and they spent the next 41 years working together in the store until their retirement. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army from May 1951 to April 1953. After basic training, he was sent to Germany, where he did technical repair for the Army.

Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy A. Wolf; their children, Jeff (Sherri) Wolf of Saline and Lori (David) Magirl of Greenville; grandchildren, Andrew (Lauren) Magirl, Carter Magirl, Michael Wolf, and Jennifer Wolf; sister-in-law, Lois (Don) Rosenow of Tipton, IA; and brothers-in-law, Phillip (Connie) Gau of Portsmouth, IA and Dean (Maxine) Gau of Portsmouth, IA.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Bernice Wolf; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Donna and William Buckley.

Jack was a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville, a past member of the Greenville Lions Club, and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where he served as a minister of hospitality for many years. Jack thoroughly enjoyed sports, especially basketball, baseball, and tennis. In high school he excelled at football, basketball, and baseball. He continued this interest by coaching Little League baseball when his son played, and by coaching basketball at St. Charles for many years. Jack also played full-court basketball with a group of men into his 70's. He taught himself tennis, and spent a lot of time playing tennis with Jeff and Lori, as well as with friends in a club in Grand Rapids. He was a big Notre Dame football fan. Jack enjoyed his time with family and friends, and the family has many fond memories of times spent together at the family cottage at Turk Lake.

Jack's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Spectrum Health United and Kelsey Hospitals, Spectrum Health Hospice, and the home health attendants from Comfort Keepers for their care and concern.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Jack will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, July 1 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Rev. Mark Bauer presiding. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Hurst Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. Interment will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Charles Catholic School or the Parkinson's Association of West Michigan.
