He removed with his parents to Gaylord, Kan., in 1885, residing there and in Effingham until 1891, when the family moved to Mt. Ayr. He entered the Mt. He was taken sick Saturday night, January 1, with inflammation of the bowels as the result of a fall. He was sick but little over a week, his death occurring early Monday morning, January 10. He was unconscious during a part of his sickness, but on Saturday profess conversion and spoke words of encouragement to his father and brothers. He was a member of the Methodist church and a faithful attendant at Sunday school. Among his young friends he was a general favorite, and his death is deeply mourned.
The funeral was conducted from the M.E. church on Tuesday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock by Dr. W. C. Martin. A large number of friends were present, and the high school and teachers attended in a body. The pall bearers were six friends - Curt Hass, Orr Ingram, Boyd Rodgers, Homer Wright, Harry Kinsell and James Beard. The interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. The bereaved father and brothers have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their sad affliction.
