John was s/0 Franciscus (Francis) (1669-1729) & Elizabeth (Thorpe)(1680-1728) Harrison. He was baptised 20 Jul 1718 at Rillington, Yorkshire, England. He married Sarah Lovell (1731-1814)on 21 Nov 1753 at Hornsea, East Riding Yorkshire, Eng. John & Sarah & nine children arrived in Nova Scotia on board either the 'Thomas & William' or 'The Prince George 14/16 May 1774 (as part of the Yorkshire immigration). The family settled in the Maccan area. Their children were quite prolific thus there are many who can call John & Sarah ancestors.

The cemetery is also known as 'The Harrison Orchard Cemetery' It is located on the original homestead of John & Sarah Harrison
There is no definitive knowledge on exact numbers of persons buried here
Susan Hill's book: Some Cumberland County, Nova Scotia Cemeteries (1997) lists 17 people.
A letter 1970's from Ernest Coates to Norman Fulmer Harrison (family historian) indicates there were 17 graves and that were only marked by mounds of earth and a field stone placed on each. Ernest's letter lists 11 names (John is #1).
