Jack Lee Daugherty Sr., 77, of Bay City went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. He was born on March 12, 1938 in Edinburg, Texas to the late James and LaFaye Reese Daugherty.

Jack served in the Army in Verona, Italy where he played saxophone in the 4th Army Band. He owned his own crane company in Freeport, Texas, Morgan City, Louisiana and Deridder, Louisiana. Jack served as past president of the Bay City Country Club. He participated in numerous car shows and loved building cars with his son and grandson. Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim Daugherty. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years. Gayle Davis Daugherty; son Jack Daugherty, Jr. and wife Dawn; grandchildren Zachary, Garett and Blake; niece Cathy Twilligear and husband Steve of Corpus Christi; nephew Jimmy Daugherty of McAllen and great-nieces Kaylee and Terri.

The family will receive visitors 5-7pm Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the funeral home. Services will be held 2:00pm Monday, January 25, 2016 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Revs. Chester Sassman and Lane ParDue officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers are Mike Burnside, Jimmy Allen, Bobby Kimball, Don Stone, Scott Korenek and David Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Smith, Buck Head, Barney Mason, Jr. and Scott Mason. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Houston Hospice/El Campo.
