Sandra A. McDowell, 75, of Woodhull, Illinois died Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. Services are 4:00 PM Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull. Private burial will be in the Woodhull Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home where memorials may be left to the Clover Township Fire Dept. or the Tri-County Ambulance Service. She was born January 7, 1941 in Monmouth, IL to William and Veta Corbin Reedy. She attended the AlWood schools. On December 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald W. McDowell Sr. in Corinth, MS. He died January 29, 2010.
Sandra was employed as a cook for the Coffee Cup Restaurant in Woodhull for many years and was then employed as a mental health technician at the Galesburg Mental Health Center and Zeller Mental Health Center in Peoria retiring in 2005.
She served on the Clover Township Library Board and the Clover Township Fire Department Women’s auxiliary. She loved to read and crochet.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Donna (Bill) Metzler, Dena (Mark) Mueller all of Orion, Barb (Gene) Colburn of Alpha, 2 sons, Doog (Lisa) McDowell of Woodhull, Mike (Jennifer) McDowell of Milan, 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, 1 sister, Mary Lee Reedy of Rock Island, 1 brother, William J. (Linda Marshall) Reedy of Penton, TX and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
