Addison H. Hoover Rites Held Today
ALAMEDA, July 27.
Funeral services for Addison H. Hoover secretary of the Alameda Real Estate board, are to be held at the residence, 2103 Clinton avenue at 2p.m. tomorrow by Rev. Harvey V. Miller, pastor of the First Congregational church. Hoover died at his home Monday afternoon of a heart attack. His wife, Mrs. Evelyn B. Hoover, found him seated in a chair, a newspaper in his hands and a pipe clenched in his teeth about 5:30 p. m. Hoover was born in Goodrich Michigan, and at one time operated a hardware store there. Later he moved to Toronto, where he organized the Sovereign Life Insurance company and the Sovereign Fire Insurance Company. He moved to California in 1911 and in the year following organized the Standard Life Insurance Company of California. He then bought the real estate and insurance business of Captain J. S. Hardy at 1310 Park street. He was a thirty-second degree Mason, a Knight Templar, member of the Scottish Rite and the Odd Fellows. Beside his widow he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Esther Broom, Millington, Michigan, and a nephew, Lea Corrigan, of Oakland.
