John E. “Skip” Blunke, 70, Silvis, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Unity Point-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is 2-5PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home and Crematory, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church.

Skip was born November 19, 1945 in Moline, the son of John and Dorothy (Hettinger) Blunke. He worked as a fireman for the city of East Moline for 27 ½ years. He married Mardee Johnson, on February 14, 1989 in Hampton. Skip loved the game of golf, was an amazing cook, and cherished his friendships.

Survivors include sons, John Paul Blunke, Blue Springs, MO, and Steve Blunke, East Moline, granddaughters; Mindie (Sam) Myers, Blue Springs, MO, and Ashley Blunke, Kansas City, MO, great grandchildren Bethany, Caylee, and Jackson, step-children; Burl Anderson, Silvis, Cheri Hafner,Benton, Kentucky, Renee Waugh, Rock Island, Sean Johnson, East Moline, Theresa Johnson, Davenport, Shannon Harris, Moline, David Johnson, Colona, and James Johnson, Colona, numerous step grandchildren including his little buddy E.J., sisters; Jackie DePorter, East Moline, Carole (John) Van Hoe, East Moline and Kathy Guthrie, Shawnee, KS, and many nieces and nephews.
