He was born September 27, 1897 in Bear Creek, the son of the late George and Margaret (Bumhauer) Long.
On December 11, 1919 Chancie was united in marriage to Viola Maahs in Wittenberg. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Vilas Long, Green Bay, Gerald Long, Wittenberg and Leonard Long, Milwaukee; one daughter, Marcella Hansen, Muskego; one brother, John Long, Wittenberg; two sisters, Myrtle Aggen, Wittenberg and Bernice (William) Rosenow, Gresham; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Chancie was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, including Harry, Joe, Russell and Howard, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held September 27, 1977 at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. The Rev. R.C. Reinholtzen officiated. Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg.
