A lifelong farmer, he was the son of William Jameson (c.1800-1846) and Elizabeth Ann "Eliza" Gardiner who were married on 26 Jan 1830 in Charles County, Maryland, per the Mattawoman church records. His date of birth, 24 Feb 1834, and christening, 14 Jun 1834, were also recorded in the Mattawoman church records. There is disparity though between the church records, his gravestone and his death certificate, as the latter lists his date of birth as 09 Feb 1836 and his date of death as 09 May 1922 at the age of 86 years.
